Lagos Signs MoU to Revolutionise Parking, Ease Gridlock
The Lagos State Government has taken a bold step toward tackling traffic congestion by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Automat and i-Cell Software Solutions to modernise parking management across the state.
The agreement, sealed by the General Manager of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu, alongside Mr. Pereira Seun of Automat and Mr. Hassan Fayad and Mr. Fayad Fayad of i-Cell, will see the deployment of cutting-edge parking software, enforcement systems, and digital infrastructure to streamline vehicle flow in Lagos.
Mrs. Adelabu noted that the partnership is part of a broader statewide strategy to revolutionise parking culture and reduce indiscriminate parking, which is a major contributor to gridlock.
“The introduction of these advanced parking solutions will not only transform Lagos’ current processes but also improve on-street parking, enhance traffic planning, and bring order to our roads,” she said.
The smart parking solutions will deliver multiple benefits:
- Digital mapping of parking locations across Lagos.
- Booking systems that allow motorists to reserve slots remotely.
- Reduction in harassment by touts and illegal operators.
- Stronger enforcement through integrated software and hardware tools.
- Support for sustainable urban mobility in line with Lagos’ transport vision.
Adelabu urged motorists to comply with state parking regulations, assuring that LASPA remains resolute in ensuring a safe, efficient, and technology-driven system.
With this partnership, Lagos is positioning itself as a regional leader in smart mobility, leveraging technology to solve one of the city’s most persistent challenges — gridlock.
