Gov Otti commissions second smart school in Abia, urges pupils to embrace hard Work

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has commissioned the state’s second Smart School at Umuomaiukwu in Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, describing the project as a strategic investment in the future of Abia’s children.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony on Tuesday, Governor Otti urged pupils to remain hardworking, disciplined and committed to their studies, assuring them that the government has provided everything they need to excel academically at no cost.

He said the Smart School is equipped with state-of-the-art learning facilities, including artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality, adaptive learning technologies, 24-hour internet connectivity, renewable energy, CCTV surveillance and a dedicated girls’ wellness room.

The governor added that outstanding students would have access to both local and international scholarship opportunities, encouraging them to take full advantage of the facilities provided.
Governor Otti also warned against the vandalisation of public school infrastructure, stressing that anyone found destroying government property would face the full weight of the law.

He reaffirmed that education remains the cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda, noting that sustained investment in modern learning infrastructure is essential to preparing young people for the challenges and opportunities of the future.

Renowned writer and scholar, Prof. Okey Ndibe, who attended the event, commended Governor Otti’s commitment to educational development, describing the Smart School initiative as a transformative investment that will equip Abia’s children with the knowledge and skills needed to compete in a rapidly evolving global economy.
