The West African expansion journey of JP Batteries moved into another significant phase on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, as the team arrived in Togo from Ghana for a three-day business engagement with distributors, dealers and prospective partners.

The Togo visit was focused on taking JP Batteries directly into the market, meeting business operators, introducing the product to prospective partners and, most importantly, listening to what the market had to say.

The response was encouraging.

A good number of those we engaged were Togolese, Lebanese and Indians, alongside a few Nigerians doing business in Togo. Some dealers were supplied with JP Batteries and immediately displayed them in their various shops, giving customers the opportunity to see the products and make enquiries.

The feedback and business reviews throughout the three days were impressive, with durability, reliability, power and suitability for African weather and road conditions featuring prominently in the conversations.

JP Batteries is manufactured by PINACO, the Vietnamese Dry Cell and Storage Battery Joint Stock Company, an established battery manufacturer with decades of experience in the industry. PINACO produces JP and other battery brands for both local and international markets, giving the product an established manufacturing background as it continues to gain attention in African markets.

Speaking on the outcome of the Togo engagement, Chief Dr. Chris Brown Umeh, Chairman of JP Chris Motors and Batteries Nigeria Limited and the sole distributor of JP Batteries in West Africa, expressed satisfaction with the level of interest, patronage and feedback received from dealers and prospective business partners.

For Dr. Umeh, the expansion is not simply about putting batteries on shelves across different countries. It is about building strong relationships with credible distributors and dealers who understand their markets and can take the brand closer to consumers.

Among the business personalities and dealers engaged during the Togo visit were Sir Nickson, Sir Wahib, Sir Edu Japan, Sir Eric Batteries and Sir Reginus, among others.

One of the notable developments was the interest shown by Sir Tobike, whose dealers in Togo are now suppliers of JP Batteries and have expressed their willingness to deepen their business relationship with the brand.

Some prospective partners also indicated interest in becoming sole distributors as JP Batteries continues its expansion across African markets.

Speaking on the business tour and marketing engagement, Nigerian Media Expert, Njoku Macdonald Obinna, described JP Batteries as a product capable of giving dealers confidence when recommending a battery to motorists. He noted that durability and reliability are particularly important because customers ultimately judge dealers by the performance of the products they sell.

He encouraged JP Batteries to maintain its product quality while strengthening its distribution network and customer support in Togo.

Sir Wahib also gave positive feedback after examining the products, stressing that motorists need batteries they can depend on, particularly in an environment where vehicles are subjected to long journeys, heavy daily use and demanding weather conditions.

He recommended the product to dealers and motorists and encouraged the company to continue expanding its network of trusted suppliers in Togo.

The three-day engagement demonstrated that interest in JP Batteries goes beyond ordinary buying and selling. Some dealers are already considering deeper partnerships, while others are exploring larger distribution opportunities.

From Togo, the West Africa business tour continued into Cameroon, where the team arrived on Friday, August 14, 2026, for another round of business engagements with dealers and automobile industry stakeholders.

The Cameroon leg provided another important opportunity for JP Batteries to meet established players in the automobile business and further assess the market as the company’s West African expansion continues to gather momentum.

Among the two major dealers engaged in Cameroon were Pastor Mike Okeke, Chairman/CEO of Bethel Auto, Douala, Cameroon, and Chief Nwafor Chi-Oliver, Chairman/CEO of NOC Automobiles, Cameroon.

Their engagement with the JP Batteries team added another important dimension to the Cameroon leg of the tour, as discussions focused on the product, market opportunities, distribution and the possibility of building stronger business relationships within the Cameroonian automobile market.

The Cameroon visit became the final stop of the first batch of the West Africa Business Tour. After completing the engagement, the team returned to Nigeria on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, effectively bringing the first batch of the business tour to a close.

For me, covering the journey as the media coordinator, the Togo and Cameroon experience was also an opportunity to document the countries beyond their business environments.

Just as we visited Freedom Square in Accra, Ghana, during the Ghana leg of the journey, we made sure we also visited one of Togo’s notable landmarks, Independence Place, and I believe that covering a business journey across Africa should go beyond products, meetings and photographs; it should also tell the story of the people, history, culture and identity of every country visited.

As Nigerian Media Expert, Public Analyst and Publisher of 4th Estate Reporters, I see the JP Batteries expansion as an interesting example of international manufacturing meeting African entrepreneurship and distribution.

PINACO provides the manufacturing foundation behind the JP brand, while distributors and local business partners are creating the channels through which the product reaches consumers across the continent.

From Ghana to Togo and finally Cameroon, the message from the market has been encouraging there is room for products that can demonstrate quality, durability, reliability and value.

The first batch of the West Africa Business Tour therefore ended with more than business meetings. It produced new contacts, suppliers, prospective distributors and growing interest in JP Batteries across the markets visited.

With the first batch now concluded, the team is already preparing for the second batch of the West Africa Business Tour, which will take the JP Batteries expansion into more West African countries as the company continues to search for credible dealers, distributors and strategic business partners.

The journey from Ghana to Togo and Cameroon has shown that the road to building a strong African brand is not achieved in one flight or one business meeting. It is built through relationships, market understanding, consistency and the confidence of those who are willing to stand behind the product.

As the second batch approaches, JP Batteries is taking the market one country, one dealer and one partnership at a time, building confidence and positioning the brand for a stronger presence across West Africa and the wider African market.
