‘Take Charge of Your Schools,’ TESCOM Commissioner Advises Principals
A member of the Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Dr. Olusegun Agbaje has urged school principals to take full charge of their institutions and ensure the effective deployment of teachers in line with the educational objectives of the State Government.
Dr. Agbaje, who represents the Epe Division on the TESCOM Board, gave the charge during a monitoring exercise across several schools in the division.
He explained that the visit was part of TESCOM’s mandate to routinely assess teachers’ performance in post-primary schools across the state and to evaluate their readiness to deliver on their duties.
Dr. Agbaje appealed to teachers—particularly newly recruited ones—to work harmoniously with school principals in cultivating a conducive and supportive learning environment, while also serving as positive role models to students.
He further encouraged principals to welcome the newly employed teachers posted to their schools with open arms, noting that, as fresh entrants into the teaching profession, they require guidance, mentorship, and steady encouragement.
The TESCOM monitoring team, consisting of officials from the Monitoring and Appeal Department, visited seven schools, including Epe Senior Grammar School, Epe Junior Grammar School, Odo-Obara Junior and Senior High Schools, and Okumagba Junior and Senior Grammar Schools.
