Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on Thursday received the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, at the Government House, Enugu, praising his outstanding leadership and commitment to strengthening national security.

Governor Mbah congratulated the Army Chief once again on his appointment, describing it as “a square peg in a square hole,” given his distinguished service record and the urgency he has brought to Nigeria’s security challenges.

The governor expressed appreciation for the COAS’s recent public acknowledgement of the significant improvement in Enugu’s security landscape.
According to him, the progress recorded in the state is the result of deliberate investments, bold reforms, and, critically, the unwavering dedication of officers and men of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

“Our partnership with the Nigerian Army remains strong and strategic. Enugu could not have become the safe and secure state it is today without their commitment. We will continue to sustain and deepen this collaboration as we work to protect our people, reassure investors, and keep our communities peaceful,” Mbah said.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the sustained policies, investments, and priority attention given to national security under his administration.
The governor reaffirmed Enugu State’s alignment with the President’s broader security vision, pledging closer cooperation with the Nigerian Army to advance those national objectives.

“Enugu remains committed to a safer, more secure future and together, we are achieving it,” Governor Mbah assured.
