Glo skill Bridge program graduates LAWMA sweepers

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), in partnership with Glo Foundation, has successfully graduated the first batch of sanitation workers from a skill acquisition programme, through the Glo Skill Bridge platform, targeted at empowering sweepers with practical skills beyond their daily sweeping duties. From dress designing to digital literacy, bead-making to pastry and baking, the initiative is part of efforts at ensuring a more solid financial stability for the sweepers.

At the graduation ceremony, held at Mike Adenuga’s Towers, Victoria Island, Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, Executive Director of LAWMA, who represented the Managing Director/CEO, urged the graduands to put their new skills into practice and develop themselves further. He commended Glo Foundation for its continued support through the Glo Skill Bridge Programme, encouraging the sweepers to stay productive beyond their sanitation work schedules.

Speaking at the event, Glo Foundation’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mrs. Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, expressed Glo’s delight in contributing to the empowerment of the sweepers through the initiative, assuring that more training opportunities would follow soon.

Also in attendance were the Chief Operating Officer of Globacom, Mr. Pankaj Thapliyal and some LAWMA management staff members.
