Coker Senior Secondary School Class of ’91/’92 unveils documentary to celebrate alma mater at 35

As part of activities marking its 35th anniversary, members of the Coker Secondary School Class of ’91/’92 recently converged in Lagos to unveil a documentary chronicling events and developments that have shaped the alma mater over the past three and a half decades.

The reunion was nostalgic, as old friends who had been apart for more than three decades reunited, rekindled friendships and shared memories of their school days.
Spearheading the event was the President of the Class of ’91/’92 Old Boys and Girls Association, Mr Jeffery Chinedu Okereafor, who was supported by members of the executive committee, including the Vice President, Folorunsho Afeez Osho:

Florence Kelly Ede: Public Relations Officer, Grace Ogbo (Welfare Officer) and Agnes Dora Ogogo, Treasurer.

In his address, the President thanked God for the opportunity to celebrate the milestone and reunite members in good health.
He said the gathering, coming more than three decades after the members left school, provided an opportunity to reconnect, relive cherished memories and build stronger bonds among members.

Also speaking, the Vice President, Mr Osho, described the reunion as a nostalgic experience, noting that it was exciting to reconnect with former classmates after such a long period.
He commended members and supporters of the alma mater for their contributions to the growth of the school, particularly their support for the production of the documentary, which captured major activities and developments in the institution from its inception to date.

The Public Relations Officer, Mrs Ede, said the documentary was presented in a panoramic, movie-style format and featured interviews with past and present members of staff and students of the school.

The event also provided an avenue for members to wine and dine while recounting experiences that had shaped their lives over the years. The nostalgic atmosphere was further heightened by the DJ, who treated guests to a rich selection of old-school music.

Members, many of whom are now in their 50s, could not resist the music as they took to the dance floor, rekindling the youthful spirit of their school days.

As the celebration drew to a close, awards of excellence and recognition were presented to distinguished members in appreciation of their contributions to the growth and development of the alma mater.

Among the dignitaries who attended to support the association were the President of the National Alumni Association of Coker Secondary School, Mr Fatai Mobolaji, and a former President of the Coker ’93 Set, who doubles as the Vice president of Coker senior secondary school alumni association, Mr Victor Chielo Ezenwa.

Both dignitaries encouraged the old boys and girls to keep the flag flying by pursuing initiatives and goals that would uphold the dignity and legacy of their alma mater.
