Police Arrest Four Officers in Viral Extortion, Ethnic Threat Video

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four police officers captured in a viral video allegedly attempting to extort money from a motorist along the Lagos-Benin Expressway.
The incident triggered widespread public outrage after one of the officers was heard threatening to slap and detain the motorist, while allegedly stating that he would have treated him differently if he had been Igbo.
The arrested officers were identified as ASP Elomore Sodayo, Inspector Adefila Adewale, Inspector Olorunfemi Opeyemi and Inspector Odusola Peter.
Confirming the development on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ondo State, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, had ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
Jimoh said the probe would establish the circumstances surrounding the encounter and determine the level of culpability of each officer involved.
He assured the public that the Command remains committed to professionalism, accountability and respect for the rights of all citizens, adding that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken if the officers are found culpable.
The arrests followed widespread condemnation of the viral video, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough investigation and appropriate sanctions against the officers.
