Sowore condemns continuous detention of Akwa Tiwara Aki, Chukwudozie Nwangwu
Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has demanded the immediate release of celebrity herbalist Chukwudozie Nwangwu, Akwa Okuko, detained by Anambra State government on allegations of preparation of charms(Oke ite)
In a statement made on his verified social media plartform, Sowore declares:
“I am demanding the immediate termination of the sham, malicious, and cynical prosecution of Akwa Ọkụkọ (Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki), Chukwudozie Nwangwu a case that has exposed the utter abuse of state power under Anambra Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
“This is not justice but persecution driven by prejudice and political arrogance, for two straight court dates the trial has collapsed because the prosecution’s so-called star witness refused to appear, and even admitted that no criminal items were found during Akwa Ọkụkọ’s arrest, only materials dismissively labeled “fetish.”
Cultural bias is not evidence. Intolerance is not law, and continuing this case is a disgrace to the judiciary and an insult to Anambra people. Soludo must discontinue this farce on December 19, 2025, and free Akwa Ọkụkọ immediately so he can spend the holidays with his family. Anything less is cruelty masquerading as governance.
