A fresh wave of political interest swept through Abuja on Tuesday following a closed-door meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, at the Presidential Villa. The visit, sources say, is closely linked to the intensifying push for the release of the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Otti, dressed in a grey knee-length traditional attire, arrived in the company of key stakeholders, including Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother to the separatist leader; Abia State Attorney-General, Ikechukwu Uwanna (SAN); and his media strategist, Ferdinand Ekeoma.

The meeting comes barely days after Otti’s surprise visit to the Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he met privately with Kanu. Speaking to journalists afterward, the governor described Kanu’s prolonged detention as an issue that has transcended politics, insisting it has become a “top-priority mission” for his administration.

Through his media aide, Otti disclosed that a coordinated and lawful pathway towards securing Kanu’s release is already in motion, raising hopes among supporters and observers across the South-East.
