…Extends Quality Healthcare to Retired Public Servants

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the state’s workforce by extending quality healthcare services to retired public servants.

Through a collaborative initiative between the Lagos State Health District II and the Public Service Office (PSO), retirees across Somolu, Kosofe, and Ikorodu Local Government Areas benefitted from a comprehensive free medical outreach — a clear testament to the State Government’s pledge to prioritise citizens’ well-being even beyond their years of active service.

The outreach featured a wide range of medical services tailored to meet the needs of senior citizens. Beneficiaries received free blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol checks, as well as general health screening, eye care services, medical consultations, and essential medications. The programme also included health education sessions designed to promote preventive care and healthier lifestyles among retirees.

The Permanent Secretary of the Public Service Office, Mrs. Sukanmi Oyegbola, alongside her counterpart in Health District II, Dr. Dayo Lajide, visited the centres to monitor the exercise.

Mrs. Oyegbola, while acknowledging the warm collaboration from Health District II, urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to know their health status and follow up with proper medical care when necessary.

“If you are referred to the hospital, please ensure you go. Use your strength wisely, and take good care of your health. Let us all cultivate the habit of regular medical check-ups, eat healthy foods, and use medications as prescribed. Your health is your greatest asset,” she advised.

She commended the retirees for their years of dedicated service to the State and expressed delight at the impressive turnout. Mrs. Oyegbola reaffirmed that the welfare of both active and retired officers remains a top priority under the THEMES Plus Agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, particularly in the areas of health and social welfare.

The Permanent Secretary reiterated the State Government’s commitment to sustaining such initiatives as part of its broader efforts to promote healthy living and improve the quality of life for senior citizens across Lagos State.
