Gov Sanwo-Olu Receives Leadership of NBA in Lagos
…As Ogunlende Makes Case for Promotion of Basketball in Nigeria
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Tuesday received the leadership of the National Basketball Association (NBA) at the State House, Marina, where he emphasized the role of sports in driving national development.
The Governor was joined by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende; the Director-General of Sports; and three Senior Special Assistants on Sports.
The NBA delegation, led by NBA Africa investor Mr. Tunde Folawiyo, paid a courtesy visit to explore opportunities for collaboration with Lagos State.
Speaking during the meeting, Commissioner Ogunlende described the engagement as a platform for strategic discussions on partnerships and initiatives aimed at developing basketball in Lagos and across Nigeria.
He stressed that basketball, like other sports, has the potential to not only provide entertainment but also create economic opportunities, foster youth engagement, and strengthen Nigeria’s position in global sports.
